Terms & Conditions

In short: a $99 reservation holds your place in the production queue. It is fully refundable, and it isn't a purchase. Nothing is sold until we confirm the final specification, price and delivery window and you choose to pay the balance.

Genesis gives you information from its offline library, not professional advice. Always check the sources, and call emergency services in an emergency.

1. Who we are

GenesisBox, GenesisOne and genesisbox.org are products and services of:

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean FINQUP Technology OOD. "You" means the person or organization using the website, reserving or buying. "Device" means a GenesisOne or a GenesisBox.

2. What these terms cover

These terms apply to your use of genesisbox.org, to reservations, and to purchases of Devices and accessories. If you buy as a business or organization, our Business Terms also apply and take priority where they differ. Our Shipping, Returns & Refunds and Warranty pages form part of these terms. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

3. Products in development

GenesisOne and GenesisBox are in development. Specifications, battery life, solar charging times, power draw, AI model sizes and library contents shown on the website are engineering targets and may change before production. Prices shown are target launch prices.

Before we ask you to pay the balance, we will confirm the final specification and price in writing. If anything material has changed from what was shown when you reserved (for example a higher price, a smaller battery or a feature removed), you can cancel and get your deposit back in full.

4. Reservations

4.1 What a reservation is

A reservation costs $99 per Device and holds your place in the production queue for the Device and quantity you chose. A reservation is not a contract to buy a Device. It creates no obligation for you to complete the purchase.

4.2 Paying the deposit

Deposits are paid through Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details. You'll receive an email confirming your reservation, the Device, the quantity and a reference number.

4.3 Cancelling your reservation

You can cancel at any time before you pay the balance, for any reason, by emailing info@genesisbox.org with your reference number or the email address you reserved with. We refund the full deposit to the original payment method within 14 days of your request. We don't deduct payment-processing fees.

4.4 When we cancel

We refund your deposit in full if we don't put the Device into production, if we can't deliver to your country, or if we can't offer it at a price and specification you accept.

4.5 Confirmation before production

Before production, we'll email you the final specification, the final price, the confirmed delivery window, and the shipping cost and any taxes or import charges we know of. You then decide whether to pay the balance or cancel.

4.6 Deposit credited to your purchase

If you buy, the deposit is credited against that Device's final price. Deposits don't earn interest, and they can't be exchanged for cash other than by a refund to the original payment method.

5. Buying a Device

A purchase contract is formed when you accept our confirmed offer and pay the balance, and we confirm your order by email. Prices are in US dollars unless we say otherwise. Taxes, such as VAT, and delivery costs are shown before you pay. We may refuse or cancel an order if a price was obviously wrong, if we suspect fraud, or if the order would break the law, including sanctions. In each case we refund anything you've paid.

6. Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your bank or card issuer may charge currency-conversion fees; we don't control these. Refunds go back to the payment method you used.

7. Delivery

Delivery is covered on our Shipping & Delivery page. No Device ships before you've paid the balance.

8. Your right to change your mind

If you're a consumer, you can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of receiving the Device, without giving a reason. See Returns & Refunds.

9. Legal guarantee and warranty

Consumers in the EU have a 2-year legal guarantee of conformity. We also offer our own limited warranty. See Warranty.

10. Using Genesis responsibly

Information, not advice. Genesis answers questions from the library stored on the Device. Its AI can misread a question or a source, and a source can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Genesis is not a substitute for a doctor, pharmacist, electrician, engineer, lawyer or other professional.
Check the sources. Critical answers show the passages they came from. Read them before acting, especially on medical, food-safety, electrical, structural or chemical questions.
Emergencies. In an emergency, contact emergency services (112 in the EU) whenever you can.
Power equipment. Batteries, solar panels and chargers must be used as described in the manual. Don't open battery packs or connect equipment beyond its rated limits.
Maps. Offline maps can be out of date and don't show every hazard. Use judgement and local information.

11. Library content and licences

The Genesis Library is made up of public-domain and openly licensed material, such as Wikipedia and Project Gutenberg books. Each pack in the Device's signed content manifest lists its source, licence and snapshot date. That content remains owned by its authors and rights holders, and you may reuse it under its own licence (for example CC BY-SA). Our selection, organization, indexes and software are protected by our rights.

12. Software on the Device

We license, and don't sell, the software on the Device to you, for use on that Device. Open-source components remain under their own licences, which are listed on the Device. Updates are optional and never remove a capability you paid for. The Device keeps working without an internet connection, without an account and without any subscription.

13. Using the website

Don't misuse genesisbox.org. That means no attacking or overloading it, no attempts to access systems or data you aren't authorized to reach, and no automated scraping at a scale that affects the service. The website's design, text and brand belong to us.

14. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or where the law doesn't allow a limit. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, we're responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms, and not for losses that weren't foreseeable, indirect losses, or business losses of consumers. For business customers, the limits in our Business Terms apply.

15. Events outside our control

We aren't responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as supply shortages, natural disasters, war, epidemics or carrier failures. If an event like this delays delivery beyond the confirmed window, we'll tell you, and you can cancel for a full refund.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force when you reserved or ordered applies to that reservation or order, unless a change is required by law or is in your favour.

17. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Bulgarian law. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in the courts there. Please contact us first at info@genesisbox.org; most issues can be solved quickly. Consumers in Bulgaria can also contact the Commission for Consumer Protection (kzp.bg).
